What causes indoor air pollution?

Many common products may cause poor indoor air quality in your Boise residence.

This includes:

  • Chemicals in [carpeting, furniture and drapes that give off fumes
  • Cleaning products
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are usually more efficient, modern homes don’t ventilate the way older residences do. Secure weather stripping and storm doors keep indoor air in and outdoor air out. This gives better energy savings, but the decreased exchange of outdoor and indoor air can trigger pollutants accumulating indoors.

In these circumstances, a whole-house ventilation system is advised. Ventilation systems replace dirty inside air for fresher exterior air without compromising energy savings.
