What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

TML Service Experts in Boise always talks about how our team of experts are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified by NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to TML Service Experts that our experts are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since TML Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
