When you want heating, air conditioning or plumbing services from TML Service Experts, you will pay a trip charge and a diagnostic fee independently. Some companies you’ve called in the past most likely combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we think we can offer you greater value by separating the two.
What's a Trip Charge?
A trip charge includes the cost for a qualified plumber or HVAC technician to visit your home. Often called a service call fee, this payment is the initial rate for sending our technicians, equipment and expertise to your door. If you would like to avoid trip charges in the future, you can consider registering for one of our membership plans.
What Is a Diagnostic Fee?
The diagnostic fee is made up of the services needed to determine the root of a problem. With plumbing, this can consist of scoping. In HVAC repairs, it might involve taking a look at the inside of your system. If you decide to use TML Service Experts for the repairs, the diagnostic fee will be rolled into the repair bill. That said, you are charged for the diagnostic services alone if you choose not to.
What Is the Difference Between a Trip Fee and a Diagnostic Fee
Generally speaking, a trip fee includes sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your home, while the diagnostic fee addresses all the work related to assessing the problem and coming up with a plan for repairs. If you are paying for repairs, you won't notice the diagnostic fee because it'll be absorbed into the cost of the repairs.
Why Are Diagnostic Fees and Trip Charges Billed Separately?
Many plumbers and HVAC companies are going to charge one fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services together, we have two distinct fees. This allows us to price our services in the fairest possible manner.
