The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the chance to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to make healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume assistance along with money-management and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so excited that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even showed our group their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
